THE TWIN FALLS OF LAUREL, BATANGAS

celineism

Far in the land of crater lakes and balisong, the town of Laurel in the province of Batangas keeps a duo of natural wonders mostly known only to its residents. The twin falls of Ambon-ambonand Malagaslas provide an attractive alternative for those who are looking to beat the intense summer heat. It's also great to pair it with a trip to nearby Tagaytay or Taal Lake, adding a bit more adventurous spin to an otherwise laid-back excursion.

The falls are located on separate sides of a forest cover in Brgy. San Gabriel. From the jump-off in Sitio Salipit, each falls can be reached in more or less 30 minutes on foot. It'll then be a short trek to and fro the two falls.
Ambon-ambon is the more rugged of the two. The trail to here is composed of crossing streams and going over large boulders. The falls is composed of two water drop-offs. It has a characteristic large slab of rock, on which a jet of water slides off to a swimming basin. Ambon-ambon is closed off with an enclosure of towering rock walls. Here, there are only four to five picnic huts and the surrounding flat area is limited to comfortably accommodate maybe 30 people.

Malagaslas, on the other hand, has an easier trail. The area is larger and more developed, making it more suitable for picnics. A number of cottages can be rented and food stalls are also available here. The sandbagged pool which is fed by the cascading waters of Malagaslas is larger and is just deep enough for a relaxing soak.

Empowering the Young

The youth is the hope of our fatherland.
Surely everyone will agree that youth empowerment can be attained through educating our children.
The belief in education is so strong that when everything else has been taken away; it is treated as the answer to all our problems. And it all begins with education-at home , in school, and in the community.
And educating our children depends much on us, parents and teachers. The school is just there to assist the children in their needs and not to be solely held responsible in educating them...
The youth are the instruments toward achieving the vision of youth empowerment.they probably just do not realize that they have what adults, because they have what adults do not have. And these are laughter, fantasy, spontaneity, acceptance an trust. These are important requirements in educating oneself.
We can all emphasize.Childhood carries with a certain sense of freedom. Kids do not have to worry about putting food on the table or paying bills. Other people do their laundry and they play as long as they want.. Kids may have to work at getting their homework in on time, but it is not a matter of life and death. It is simply a matter of lower grades.
Responsibility is more than providing our children with the materials things they need. Responsibility means keeping your promises even the unspoken ones. And if for some reasons you fail to fulfill a promise, you take a full responsibility. You apologize, make amends, and then begin again...
